Monday - This lesson we did sort of a backstory check on the dude who wrote "The End of the Golden Weather," (Bruce Mason). The student teacher guy, Liam I think his name is, made a powerpoint and gave us details about him and his life and his plays and stuff and we all wrote down notes on it. Not really an exciting lesson.
Tuesday - After school rehearsal was pretty sweet. We ran the production from the start, because we were on the hall and got about a quarter of the way through. Paul came up with a new idea too. We are now going to have bits of flat wood with pictures on them presenting what England has brought to NZ or something then stsick them on the back wall during the introduction. S'gonna be cool!
Wednesday - Had our weekly double. During this double though it was more really to do with getting our costumes set up. Tanya, our costume lady, cam in and started working her magic. Also we had Sasha and this other kid doing the lights for our show. It feels kinda weird going over the scenes infront of them though cos its not the full production but it will look cool once its done. Also after school me and Riley had a special rehearsal thing where we went over just the scenes of Firpo and Boy.
Thursday - Had rehearsal after school. Abby wasn't here but some of us had a little bit of there costumes so we decided to run as much as we could before we ran out of time. It went AWESOME!!!! We're doing really great. We did the whole first half of the show and Sasha and stuff did some lighting stuff. It's going to be sooo cool!
Friday - First period drama. Everyone got their costumes!!! We all look really silly because its supposed to be set in the 1930's. Especially me. I look So weird and out of place. which is good because i'm supposed to. After school we did a tech run. All the light work and other technical stuff, set up by Sasha and other kid, were put up officailly and its looking pretty good. We just fast forwarded though everything so we could see where we're going to put the lights up. It was kinda hard trying to get changed fast enough and we kept loosing our props but we'll set that out properly and get everything together before Tuesday.
Saterday - Had our Tech Rehearsal today!!! it took ages, but we got the lighting set up pretty great. Its gunnu be super epic. We started at 10am and went till about 6:30ish pm. We did a whole run through of the play after we had the lights set up and i think that was our first time running through without breaks. We had to go over a couple scenes like, twice because the settings on the light michine thing screwed up. It was hard remembering all the cues for when we're supposed to come on and getting changed into our costumes for different scenes were hard because of the limited amout of time we have to get changed.. but it was all sweet. Props and stuff we kept forgetting too. We'll be alright though.
Sunday - Fixed up the rest of the props that we needed today. Slates, paper-mache (however you spell it, i dont really care) then we did another run through after rehearsing a couple scenes that needed touching up. We wrote notes afterwards on just small props we needed and what we could do better and stuff. We seem like we're almost ready to perfom... in 2 days

Term3. Week3
Wednesday - Wednesday we had our weekly drama double. We had that student teacher guy (I can't remember what his name is) run a warm up for us which was kinda weird but fun at the same time, then started working on some Firpo and boy scenes.
Friday - James hadnt learnt lines.
Saterday - Saterday was pretty intense. We had rehearsals from 11am all the way through to 5pm. It was cool though. We started the day talking about how we thought we we going in the production individually and as a whole. I told the group the trouble I was having with playin Firpo and that i find it quit hard to get what he's feeling across because of the way i see him.. or something like that. Then everyone else talked about their troubles and feel of the group. A couple people had the same problems about playing their characters too.
Then we started a character help warm up thing. It was cool. it was helpful i guess. Afterwards we took a lunch break then for the rest of the time worked on Act 2 of the production. When we did the Joe Dyer bit, James hadn't really gotten into, or in fact created a character. So Sully made Manoa and I hold him and try to make him get into character or something. It was tough work but it paid off for him.

Term3, Week2
Monday - Did rehearsing. Not sure what we worked on..?
Tuesday - Worked on scene with Firpo racing on the beach.
Wednesday - On Wednesday we had our double as usual.
First half worked on some scenes and found out i played some more characters. extras and Man3 in that beach scene. Second half we did some character analysis using Firpo as an example.
Friday - Continued on character analysis (put into pairs), then did a teeny bit of rehearsing.
Saterday - We had reahearsals on Saterday from 11:00am till 4:00pm. Lots of people showed up late and some people just didn't show up at all. It was a pretty intense day actually. There was a scare that we wouldn't be doing the production because of the lack of commitment our class has towards putting on a show. Paul (Mr. Sullivan) was pretty upset and really disappointed in us. In the end though the class came around and is going to work really, REALLY hard to make sure we keep on schedual. So we had a run through from the start to what we could get up to and it seems like it's coming along nicely. We worked mainly on the first half of the play but did the last scene too. Just after Firpo looses the race. I havn't worked much on that scene so getting the feel of t=what to do was i little teensy weensy bit difficult to get a grasp on. My voice wasn't as Firpo-ey as it should have been but i'll work on it.

Term3, Week1
On our Monday lesson we went straight into rehearsing. We started on what we were doing on the last day of school which but then continued through to stuff that was done over the holidays and i didnt know what was going on so i tried making up some stuff which probably didn't look as cool as i though it did. Then we went into a little bit of the script which was a bit difficult because i hadn't gotten hold of how my character should be yet.
We had an after school rehearsal on Tuesday which went from 3:30 to 5:30. It was pretty tough that afternoon. We were choreographing how to set up seens like in Firpo's shack where we had people up making the house around me. Then we did this thing where (in the play it's after Firpo gets given a letter to a race on the beach) and Riley's character Boy is prettending to win all these events. There was a bit where he jumps a set of stairs and we lay on the floor as the stairs. It was tricky because i have to hold Riley of the ground with my hands and feet while the rest of the stairs rearrange themselfs. I hope it looks really cool because its hard work man.
Wednesday. We just continued with the script and acting and deciding what to do for the scenes. People keep not showing up though so we have to have people filling in for others and it gets quite annoying.
On Sunday we had a rehearsal at school from 3 to 7.. i think. It went well considering how tired a lot of us were. Me, from pulling an all nighter the night before :P

Before the Holidays
We recieved our scripts for "The End of the Golden Weather" and started reading it as a class. The story to me, personally, sounds kinda weird but i guess as we start doing it, it will get more interesting and fun. I missed quite a bit of it when we were reading in class though because i was sick and had to stay home so I'll catch up on it later.
Mr. Sullivan told me and Riley that he wanted us both to audition for the characters Firpo and Boy. So Riley and I worked together and did a scene each, with both Boy and Firpo in it and just swapt characters for the different scenes. We did a pretty good job i guess because Sully ended up making me Firpo and Riley Boy. Neither of us were craving for the characters that we got but ah well. We're stuck with it now :P
On the last day and last drama lesson of the term, there weren't many students that showed up. We started choreographing the introduction to the play. It was weird but kinda cool. We start off laying on the floor then we all roll around till we're sitting up listening to Bea (who plays Narrator) as if we are all children listening to a story. Then as she's saying her lines we get up and do stuff and it's pretty cool.
Over the holidays we had two rehearsals booked. We were a bit behind schedule because we had our Shakespear assessment extended but we're a pretty awesome class (aside from the attendance one of our students has and the number of people dropping out) so we'll still be able to work it in the time we have. I couldn't go to either of the rehearsals though because i was a little bit more sick than before so i was home. I was home for most of the holidays actually. But when we start in class i should be ok and i'll be working hard at it!

Term1, Week9
Tuesday today. i forgot to blog yesterday. Yesterday we did that cool warm up, i dont know what it's called, but you make eye contact with someone and you swap places with them and whoever's in the middle has to try and take the spare space. Then after that we literally went straight into our scripted stuff. We're doing good but there are like 3 lines in the thing where i keep forgetting and they're like in different parts of the scene too. Abby got some help from Mr. Sullivan to help make her character to seem less..... wooden. It really helped the scene i think.
And today we had a rehearsal after school so that we're prepared for tomorrow. Every time though i still kept forgetting those STUPID LINES!!!! i really hope i remember them when we perform. We've got everything else pretty sussed though.

Term1, Week8
Didnt have our double today. But we pretty much went straight into it when the lesson started. Me and Abby got straight to it and started working out how we're gonna do the scene and where on the stage we'll move to and stuff. It was pretty difficult because i dont know the story too well but i'll do it right.. or try to at least. Also its Quite hard when you dont know your lines but i'll learn them over the weekend so it should be sweet. So that when Monday comes along i'll be able to run through it smoothly.

Term1, Week8
Missed out on quite a bit since i been on camp. We're doing script work now. We recieved our scripts in week 6 but then i went on camp and i gotta learn my script ASAP.
Today in drama though, we did that weird picking peaches warm up and nazi jumps (or whatever its called) then we did that thing where you hold your tongue then read a couple lines from your script. all these warm ups are supposed to help your voice or something but then we went on to doing the script without saying the lines and just acting it out. it was a good lesson but i dont know my script that well so i screwed up a bit. when i learn it more, if we do it again it should be easier.

Term1, Week3
Today was pretty cool. It was our double and we were doing our assessment. I was away for a week so i think i missed out on heaps but we're doing improv so whatever its all goods. We had our double and did our warm up with 'yes lets' and the other weird game where u do a frozen thing then the other guys join in and stuff. Then the groups we got put in got givin a picture with an old man crying and a doctor next to him as our stimulus for the assessment, then we came up with a scene around that. At the start I found it really difficult coming up with good words that doctors say and stuff but then i just decided not to use smart words which worked out pretty good. We went over and over coming up with things to say and what to do that period and it was hard coming up with it but we'd start doing things then choosing what to use and it was good.
The next period we had about 10 minutes to go over it. But we were all sorted so we didnt really use that time. When we performed it, it was good. The other groups that went before us made me pretty nervous though cos they were real good but when I got up there and started doing it i was fine.

Term1, Week2
This week was a good week for drama. We're doing improvisation at the moment. Its fun but i find it difficult coming up with good ideas on the spot. I was away Monday and Tuesday so i missed out on anything we did then, but our double period on Wednesday was good.
We played "Yes Lets!!" which is always a weird game. It's good though because you have to make good offers so that everyone can play off it to make it a good performance thingy. And it helps to keep the offers in the circle of expectations otherwise its hard to continue the scene. When we were playing it i couldnt really do it because some of the suggestions were just to out there and i couldnt play along properly.
We also played "Its Tuesday" and some other weird game where you give your partner a present. They were good ones to play, cos i like being able to add off of someones offer they give me.
But on Friday when we were givin a picture and had to come up with a story for it was really weird. But its good when we all contributed to it to come up with something.
